Stables joins Duo BRDC Formula 4 grid with JR Racing

Joe Stables will contest the remainder of the Duo BRDC Formula 4 Championship season with new team JR Racing, beginning with this weekend’s (11/12 July) round at Snetterton.

The Yorkshire-based youngster joins the series with the family-run team which is led by his father Richard Stables. The 16-year-old has raced karts throughout his teenage years, achieving success in races across the North of England, including his home-track of Wombwell near Barnsley. This culminated in him claiming the runner-up position in the South Yorkshire Kart Club’s Junior Rotax category in 2014, missing out on the title by just seven points.

Stables, who is making his single-seater debut this weekend, already has experience driving racing cars as he has successfully competed in the MSVR-run Radical SR1 Championship this season. His father Richard still competes in the category and will run the outfit’s Formula 4 programme in conjunction with its Radical commitments, with the younger Stables still sharing driving duties.

Joe Stables said: “I am pleased to be joining the Duo BRDC Formula 4 Championship from Snetterton onwards. It is a very competitive series and although we will be competing against some tough competition, we are hoping to achieve some good results and improve throughout the season.”

Richard Stables, owner of JR Racing, commented: “It is no doubt a step up for the team but we are willing to learn, develop our knowledge and hopefully we can progress throughout 2015, starting this weekend at Snetterton.”
