Hoping to end on a high
Mahindra Racing return to New York City for the final rounds of the 2017-18 ABB FIA Formula E Championship. Rounds 11–12 will be held at the Brooklyn Circuit and will see the end of season four.
The track holds good memories for the team, with a double podium finish in the second race of the weekend last year. Eager to put the woes of the recent past behind us, everybody is more than just charged up and ready to get to the circuit and start preparing for the race weekend ahead. Coming off a strong performance by means of a charge through the pack in Zurich, the M4Electro looks quick and confident in the hands of Nick and Felix, who themselves are buzzing in anticipation of getting themselves the largest pieces of the action. The only way to end Season 4 is while playing for a top notch weekend.
While this is the second time that the iconic city and her majestic skyline will host the championship, the circuit itself has been extended by about 300 odd metres with an intense radial sequence of 3 turns that will take the drivers through about 350 degrees of direction. An energy hungry track, we expect to see a lot of coasting up and down the field, thus pushing the drivers to create overtaking opportunities for themselves wherever they can.
Familiar with how to tackle this track, Nick Heidfeld is keen to put his experience to the test, and incorporate the new turn sequence into his game plan, and face the challenge head on. His only goal is to finish the season on a real high. Unrelenting in his pursuit of speed and maximum points, Felix Rosenqvist is focusing on the weekend ahead, with only the podium, poles, and fastest laps on his to-do list.
“I have a lot of hunger and expectations for this race, it’s our last chance to have a good result this season and be back where we were at the beginning of the year. Last year we were really strong in NYC with a double podium in the second race. The main goal is for a good result from the weekend and to end the season on a high.”
“Coming to New York is always special. Last year during the first race in New York, thanks to the location of the circuit, I saw the Statue of Liberty for the first time while on the track walk in turn one! The circuit layout has partly changed and this will make it even more exciting. Of course the target of the last race weekend of the season is to finish on a high!”
“We are looking to end this season as we started it: on a high. NYC is a lovely location with an absolutely stunning backdrop for the season finale. We still have fond memories of our double podium from last year, and we just need to add to those by climbing to the top step this time&nbso;around.”
