Andrew Jordan secured his best Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship qualifying result of the season by putting his BMW Pirtek Racing car on the second row at Oulton Park.

The 29-year-old from Lichfield, Staffordshire, had been on the pace all day with top-five performances in both of the earlier free practice sessions in his WSR-run BMW 125i M Sport.

He then converted that pace into fourth place in the crucial 30-minute qualifying session to give him a tremendous chance of a podium finish in Sunday’s trio of races.

Andrew, the 2013 BTCC champion, was victorious at Oulton Park last year in the BMW and knows that a strong set of results will help him climb from his current 11th place in the Drivers’ Championship.

Andrew Jordan said: “I’m pleased with my best result of the season and to be the best of the drivers in rear-wheel-drive cars. I made a small mistake at Lodge on my fastest lap and without that I could probably have been third, but I don’t think it was possible to challenge for pole today. I can definitely race forwards from here and I’m confident of some good results tomorrow.”

Dick Bennetts, Team Principal, said: “AJ’s done a very good job today. It’s his best qualifying performance of the season and he’s certainly capable of finishing on the podium at the very least. Oulton Park is a circuit at which the weight of your car makes a big difference so getting the best possible result in Race One – while his car is ballast-free – is extremely important.”
