BMW Pirtek Racing are focused on helping BMW to secure the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship’s Manufacturers’ crown at Brands Hatch on Sunday.
Andrew Jordan qualified 18th in his WSR-run BMW 125i M Sport after a challenging session that featured two stoppages and a light sprinkling of rain.
Having set top-10 times in morning practice, the Lichfield racer is confident of moving through the field during Sunday’s three races.
Andrew, the 2013 BTCC Champion, carries 27kg success ballast into the race and lies eighth in the points table with the possibility of ending the season inside the top five.
Andrew Jordan said: “Things were heading the right way in practice, so I was quite confident for qualifying. It started raining just before the session so we put wet settings on the car, but then the rain stopped so we lost a bit of time changing back to a dry set-up. On-track, the car was just coming into the sweet spot when we had the chequered flag. With another run at the end, I’m sure I could have been a few rows higher. There’s more speed in the car and I take that into tomorrow as a big positive as we’re aiming to help BMW become Manufacturers’ Champions.”
Dick Bennetts, Team Principal, said: “AJ’s had a tough day in terms of results, but he does look to have some extra pace in the car, so I’d expect him to be able to race forwards from the ninth row. He won on the Indy Circuit when we last visited Brands Hatch in April, so hopefully that’s a good omen. He’ll certainly play a key role in helping us in our fight to secure the Manufacturers’ Championship for BMW.”
