The BRDC Formula 4 Championship has confirmed today (Friday 26 September) that 23 orders have already been received for its new Tatuus FIA F4 specification car, which will be delivered in summer 2015.
Series promoter MSV placed an initial order of 26 cars with Italian manufacturer Tatuus earlier this month, and the existing BRDC F4 teams had first priority on purchasing the cars, with up to three available per team. Virtually all have taken up the opportunity and the vast majority of MSV’s allocated cars have now been sold, with nine teams committing to enter the championship until at least the end of 2018.
MSV has also received substantial interest from outside teams, and is now inviting applications to purchase the remaining cars. Given the significant demand it is increasingly likely that MSV will take up its option on purchasing a further four cars from Tatuus. A maximum of 30 will be permitted to enter the championship in 2016.
MSV Chief Executive Jonathan Palmer commented: “We announced our exclusive deal with Tatuus to supply our next-generation F4 car just three weeks ago and the response from our existing teams has been outstanding, with 23 of the initial 26 car allocation already sold and committed to enter the championship long-term. With significant and increasing interest from teams outside of BRDC F4, we fully expect to increase our initial order to 30 cars.
“Tatuus are the world leaders in F4 chassis manufacture and the perfect partner for MSV as we look to strengthen our position as the dominant single seater series for young drivers in the UK. I’m delighted our teams have committed to purchasing the new car so quickly, and the future for BRDC F4 is looking very exciting indeed!”
