MG KX Momentum drivers Jason Plato and Sam Tordoff say they are ready to go on the attack to land this season’s 2013 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship as the series reconvenes at Snetterton in Norfolk this weekend.
The pair had a successful test at the circuit recently and Plato says the secrets uncovered during the extra running mean that the team is able to go on the front foot for the remaining 15 rounds in 2013.
“We’ve made progress in all areas with the car – in terms of handling, how we use the tyres and getting the most from the softer Dunlop rubber that we have to use this year. I am full of confidence,” said the two-time champion.
“By the end of the weekend, everyone’s going to be drinking a can of KX whoop-ass, which I am hopefully going to be able to hand out. We have the tools to do the job and we are going to get it done.”
Rookie Tordoff is aiming to break his victory duck in the BTCC and he reckons that this weekend could give him the perfect platform to burst into the winner’s circle for the first time.
“Snetterton has always been kind to me,” explains Tordoff. “I have won there in Renault Clios and Porsches, and the testing session has given me lots of confidence. The mileage was vital and I am sure that we will be quick straight out of the box.
“I think that the work that we have done on the soft tyre is going to reap real rewards. We have taken steps to make it suit the car and that’s going to pay off. I am full of excitement over the second half of the year.”
While the drivers are full of optimism, MG KX Momentum Racing head Ian Harrison thinks that now is the time to hammer home any advantage that the duo has.
“Testing is all well and good, and we had some positive mileage, but it is all about what happens when the points are on the table,” says Harrison. “We have to take all of the things we have learned and make sure we turn them into solid results.
“This is the time of the season when you can make a real difference. We are going to Snetterton full of anticipation but we must make that count and land the big results. That is what I expect from both of my drivers.”
The Snetterton races will be broadcast live on ITV4 and ITV4 from 11.15am.
