T-Sport has signed Bart Hylkema for the 2011 British F3 International Series. The 21 year-old Dutchman joins Menasheh Idafar and Yann Cunha on the T-Sport driving squad where he will contest the 2011 British F3 National Class.
Like his brother Thomas, Bart Hylkema has been through the ranks in karting and most recently raced in the Formula Renault Eurocup Series. He is switching to F3 in 2011 to take advantage of the extensive testing opportunities the series offers. He will be looking to follow many T-Sport drivers before him and take the National Class crown before stepping up to the International Class.
“It’s great to join forces with T-Sport for the 2011 British F3 International Series,” commented Bart. “The work I’ve done so far with the team has been very productive and I feel confident we can achieve great results together. I’ve always rated British F3 as the strongest of its kind and I look forward being part of it this year!”
“We’re very happy that Bart has joined us to contest the new Rookie Cup in 2011,” said T-Sport Team Principal, Russell Eacott. “Like Menasheh (Idafar) before him, Bart is going to have a development season so he is ready for the International Class next year. The Rookie Cup is all about learning the intricacies of F3 at a fraction of the cost, before stepping up to the top class and being competitive.”
Bart’s first test with T-Sport will take place at Pembrey in a month’s time. The 2011 British F3 International Series gets underway at Monza in Italy on 14-16 April.
