The Motorbase Performance team will switch from BMWs to Fords for 2011’s Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.

David Bartrum’s outfit has acquired three of the 2010-specification Focuses from the Arena Motorsport which ran the cars to great success this past season – the first arrived at Motorbase’s workshop in Wrotham, Kent last night.

Like Arena, Motorbase will fit its cars with petrol-turbo engines. These will be developed around a Ford engine to the BTCC’s Next Generation Touring Car regulations by specialist tuner Mountune which is also allied to Arena.

The move to Ford signals an end to Motorbase’s three-year relationship with BMW whose 320si model it has run with considerable success since 2008.
