Red tape and Bureaucracy

Overland record attempts are not always about  the vehicle or the team of drivers. Sometimes bureaucracy steps in to try to spoil the party. The problem holding up the London to Cape Town record attempt has occurred between the borders of Sudan and Ethiopia. Apparently specific references to the vehicle are required on the visa before the vehicle was to be allowed out of Sudan and into Ethiopia. Very hard and fast work by the British Embassy and the RAC led to a formal letter being produced requesting passage which fortunately was accepted and the Land Rover is back on the road. The delay has cost the team around 6 hours to their schedule.
